About the Author

Welcome to the World of Moose is Loose!

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here and visiting the home of the brand-new children’s book series, Moose is Loose!

My mother used to tell me that my name sounded like an author’s name. Well, it turns out she was right!

I have always loved writing and storytelling. After spending many years as a teacher, I learned a lot about the kinds of books children love—the ones that make them laugh, spark their curiosity, and leave them knowing something they didn’t know before. I also knew exactly what I wanted to see more of: a dog, a big adventure, and plenty of learning along the way.

And that is how Moose is Loose! began.
 

Meet Our Family

I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, with my wonderful family. My husband, Adam, is my greatest supporter and has been beside me through this entire adventure. He has worked on the images, the website, and all those little “details” that are definitely not my strong suit!

Our love of travel was a huge inspiration for this series. We have always loved exploring new places together and learning about different cultures, landmarks, history, and all the incredible things that make our world so interesting.

Our son and daughter are the lights of our lives. Their curiosity, humor, imagination, and loving personalities helped inspire the spirit behind these stories. I wanted to create books that capture some of the magic of seeing the world through a child’s eyes.
 

And, Of Course, the Dogs!

We have always been a dog family.

For fourteen years, we were lucky enough to love our sweet Hazel, a Plott Hound mix. We lost her in early 2026, and we miss her more than words can say. She will always be part of our family and our story.

Then there’s Charlie, our Border Collie mix, who is doing great at 15 years old! Charlie even provided the inspiration for the tiny flea hidden throughout the Moose is Loose! books. Yes—the flea is named after our dog!
 

And finally, there’s Moose.

Moose came into our lives as a Christmas surprise for our son, and somehow, he made our family feel complete. He is a loving Golden Retriever with every bit of the personality you see in the series. He is happy, curious, always ready for an adventure—and, of course, always finding a little mischief along the way.

The real Moose gave us the perfect character to help children explore the world.

The Adventure Is Just Beginning

Moose is Loose! combines so many things our family loves: dogs, travel, adventure, laughter, family, and learning.

Our hope is that each book takes children somewhere new, teaches them something fascinating, and—most importantly—makes them excited to turn the page and see where Moose ends up next.
